This Letter to the Editor has been written in its entirety by Sven Moller of Vista, New York.
To the Editor:
I received two requests this week for campaign contributions. The first came from Peter Michaelis who wrote: " I would greatly appreciate any donation you can make - even $100, $75 or $25 would help".
The second request came from Lisa Douglas - she wrote: "I realize that money is extremely tight but could you help me, help us, We the People, by making a donation of $5?. Of course, any denomination you can make work into your budget will be greatly appreciated".
Both are candidates for the Westchester County Legislator seat to represent District 2 which covers Somers, Bedford, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Lewisboro and Pound Ridge. Both candidates state they are running to ensure fiscal responsibility.
As I read their requests something jumped off the page - Douglas realizes that money is tight and a $5 donation is all she is looking for. Michalis wanted the 'big donations' writing the words 'even $100, $75, $25 would help'. His word 'even' just doesn't sit right. If I send him $25, is that less worthy than someone who sends him $500? It seems that one of these two candidates understand fiscal responsibility - the other fails.
My cash and vote goes to Douglas. I am done with big spenders of other peoples money!
Signed,
Sven Moller
