Time For a Change in District 2

To the Editor,

Let's make it clear why it's so important to defeat Peter Harckham by electing Peter Michaelis next month. Two years ago, we elected Rob Astorino as County Supervisor. If you think about it, it was the first ballot box retort to Obama and out-of-control spending anywhere in the nation. Many followed our lead. We here in Westchester were the first who said, "stop." Just stop. Astorino won by 10 points, a stunning 20 point swing. But this was no mere retort to Obama, but one to out-of-control spending in Westchester as well. Peter Harckham was and is a central part of the problem, and the only reason he won re-election two years ago is he ran unopposed! But here's the key point: the Democrats control the county legislature and they have enough votes to pass whatever profligate spending they want because they can override Astorino's veto. If they lose one more seat, that ability disappears. Harckham's seat is the one they need to lose. And don't buy Harckham's sudden image change into a tea-partying tax hero. What baloney. He knows which way the wind blows.

We are the highest taxed county in the nation. We need relief. Hell, we shouldn't even have a county government, but we're stuck with it, so we need to win this seat. Elect Peter Michaelis.

Sincerely,
