Funeral Scheduled for Avid Sports Fan and Bowler

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- A funeral for Josephine T. Sarsen, 91, of Bedford Hills, will be held Tuesday after she died Sunday at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco.

Sarsen, who was born in Bedford on Nov. 29, 1919, is survived by two daughters, Nora Fritsch of Queensbury, N.Y. and Sharon C Sarsen of Putnam Valley, along with one granddaughter, Melissa Ann Fritsch Edson of West Bridport, Vt.

She was predeceased by her father and husband, both named William, and her mother, Annie.

Sarsen served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. She graduated from the Bedford Hills Union Free High School and then attended Hakes Business School. She was a Secretary at the Research Institute Of America in Mt. Kisco and previously worked at Cartoon’s Furniture Store in Ossining.

She will be remembered for her love of sports and enjoyed bowling until the age 89. Sarsen was also an avid reader.

Her wake will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a religious service at 7p.m. A private interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent Sarsene memory Sarsen’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn.
