All jewelry at the Thriftree Thrift Shop will be 25 percent off, ranging from budget-friendly to high-end. Shoppers can also take 50 percent off all coats, as well as any heart-shaped items in the store.
Twigs of Northern Westchester is a volunteer women's group dedicated to raising funds for Northern Westchester Hospital, and currently operates the Thriftree Thrift Shop on Lexington Ave. in Mount Kisco. The store and its volunteers have been providing the community with high quality, affordable clothes, jewelry and furnishings since 1965.
"We raise money through thrift shop sales as well as fundraisers," said Maureen Kilfoyle, Twigs president. "We donate between $75,000 and $100,000 to the hospital annually, often for a dedicated purpose." In recent years, Twigs has contributed to upgrades in medical equipment and helped fund a new emergency room.
NWH's Twigs group is part of a nationwide network of hospital volunteers that was founded in the late 1800s in Rochester, N.Y. Northern Westchester Hospital's chapter was started in 1945, and today, the Twigs raise funds for various hospital causes through their thrift shop and other charity events.
Those looking to pick up the perfect gift for their loved ones can take pride in knowing their purchase is also helping the community. "Last year we raised $100,000 and were able to give $50,000 to the Cancer Health and Wellness Center and $50,000 to the Ken Hamilton Caregivers Center," said Kilfoyle.
"A lot of worthwhile treasures radiate out from our little shop, there's something for everyone," she said. "The community has always supported us, I believe, because they know we’re there for them."
The Twigs of Northern Westchester Hospital are actively seeking volunteers of all ages. For more information, please call (914) 666-6557 or visit their website.
