Monday, June 25

Route 172, Route 22 Paving Begins: The New York State Department of Transportation will begin paving Route 172 from Route 117 in Mount Kisco to Route 22 in Bedford, and Route 22 from Middle Patent Road in Armonk to Route 121 in Bedford. Two weeks of prep work will begin today to take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Starting the week of July 9 and continuing for two to three weeks, there will be night paving Sundays through Thursdays. Drivers should expect delays.

Stroke by Stroke: Chinese Brush Painting at the Katonah Museum of Art: 10 a.m. This one-day workshop will introduce students to the basic strokes and philosophy of Sumi-e (ink and water) Chinese brush painting. Registration is required as space is limited. Katonah Museum of Art, 134 Jay St., Katonah.

Tuesday, June 26

Town Board Work Session: 7 p.m. Fiona Mitchell of Leave Leaves Alone and Mark Solomon of the town's Tree Advisory Board will discuss the best way to compost leaves. Bedford Town House, 321 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills. 

Wednesday, June 27

Paradise in the South Pacific: 5 p.m. This family music event is part of Caramoor's "Dancing at Dusk" series. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Friends Field, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah.

Town Board Work Session: 7 p.m. In this work session, the board will discuss the building and fire code, fireworks and open space ordinances. 425 Cherry St., Bedford Hills.

Thursday, June 28

Create "Brown Gold:" Composting in Bedford Audubon's Vegetable Garden: 6:30 p.m. Join Master Gardener Cathy Clare and learn how easy and economical it is to create rich soil using organic waste in Bylane’s Bird Friendly Vegetable Garden. The session is hands-on so dress for gardening. Registration required. Bedford Audubon Society, 35 Todd Road, Katonah.
