This Wednesday Oct. 1, “Autumn Colors” is the theme for Ieva Jokubaviciute and Evnin Rising Stars alumni Karen Ouzounian's performance, including excerpts from the sonatas for cello and piano by Beethoven.
The concert is being held as part of Caramoor's Wednesday Morning Concert series, and will be held in the Music Room, beginning at 11 a.m.
The program features Beethoven’s three major creative periods, demonstrating the youthful and ambitious qualities of his early compositions for the piano, the positivity, humor and joy of his middle period and the romantic and polished qualities of his late period. Sonata in F, Op. 5 No. 1, Sonata in A, Op. 69 3rd movement and Sonata in D, Op. 102 No. 2 will be performed. The 45-minute concert will be followed by a tour of the Rosen House, the Mediterranean-style mansion and the vast collection of fine and decorative art collected by Walter and Lucie Rosen. Described as a “radiant cellist” and praised for her “rich tone” (New York Times), Ouzounian has performed as soloist, recitalist and chamber musician throughout North America and Europe. She is a member of the Aizuri Quartet, the new music ensemble counter)induction and the Boston-based conductorless chamber orchestra, A Far Cry.
She has performed with ensembles such as Trio Cavatina, The Knights, IRIS Orchestra, Gotham Chamber Opera, ECCO, the Argento Chamber Ensemble and served as guest principal of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
