Charities, families, businesses, community centers and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
Giving Tuesday started in 2012, like Small Business Saturday, as a direct response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
“Haven’t participated in Giving Tuesday before,” asks Bedford Audubon’s Executive Director, Janelle Robbins. “No problem — it’s simple! Find a way for your family, or your neighborhood, even your company to come together to take part in an act of generosity.” There are three easy ways people can participate in Giving Tuesday with Bedford Audubon:
- Become a volunteer: “As a small organization, we depend on volunteers to help in the office, on the trails and in the sanctuaries, even helping out with programs is a big help,” said Robbins. Download an application at www.bedfordaudubon.org/VolunteerApplication.pdf , peruse the volunteer listings at Volunteer Match.
- Make a donation: Donations help keep the lights on and the doors open at nonprofits all across the region. Secure credit card donations to Bedford Audubon can be made at www.bedfordaudubon.org/donation.html or by calling 914-232-1999. Checks can be mailed to Bedford Audubon, 35 Todd Road, Katonah, NY 10536.
- Choose a gift from the Bedford Audubon Amazon Wish List: “Sometimes donors want to see their donation in the hands of other—and our Amazon Wish List lets people do just that. Donors can select from binoculars, field guides and books, and trail cameras and other equipment that we need to operate,” explains Robbins. Visit http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/search/ref=nav_wishlist_find and search for “Bedford Audubon Society.”
