Seen Him? Town Of Poughkeepsie Home Burglary Suspect At Large

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Town of Poughkeepsie police are on the lookout for a man who attempted a burglary at a home on Thomas Avenue on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. when the department received a call from a resident on Thomas Avenue off of Route 44 (Dutchess Turnpike) reporting a man attempted to come into the residence, police said.

The resident confronted the man while he was trying to enter the home and he fled into the woods in a northeast direction. 

A search of the area for the man, with help from the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit, was unsuccessful, police said.

Police are warning area residents to be aware, and report suspicious activity in this area to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police or call 911. 

The man is described as being a white male in his 20s, about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 inches tall, wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt, and black baggy sweatpants with elastic on the ankle area.
