Linden Firefighter Can't Sue Over Prank That Injured His Privates, Appeals Court Rules
A Linden firefighter cannot seek damages for a prank that resulted in an injury to his scrotum, a state appeals court has ruled. The Appellate Division panel upheld a lower court decision Monday dismissing a lawsuit filed by the firefighter, Raymond Johns. Johns was on the toilet at the firehouse on Nov. 27, 2015 when, he said, he felt a small explosion. Examining himself, he said he discovered a bleeding blister on his scrotum. Landscaper Overcome By Mower Fumes At Washington Township Condo Complex Dies
UPDATE: A 26-year-old landscaper died after he and a co-worker were overcome by lawnmower carbon monoxide fumes Tuesday morning in a trailer in Washington Township, authorities said. There was no word yet on the second victim's condition. Police found both on the ground, not breathing, at the 17-acre Washington Pond condominium complex off Pascack Road and Linwood Avenue just after 8 a.m. CPR was conducted on both at the scene before they were rushed to The Valley Hospital. Paterson Construction Worker Falls To Death From Building Roof
A construction worker fell to his death from the roof of a building Tuesday morning in Paterson, authorities said. Joseph Perillo, 56 of Woodland Park, fell from a Michigan Avenue building and into an empty dumpster at 9:13 a.m., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald said in a release. Perillo was found by first responders with serious injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. Bergen County DPW Worker Killed In Saddle River Tree Removal Operation Identified
A Bergen County DPW worker who killed during a tree removal operation in Saddle River Thursday has been identified by county officials. Thomas Epper, 48, was a two-year heavy equipment operator in the Bergen County DPW, County Executive James Tedesco announced. A utility worker clearing foliage from overheard wires fell 30 feet from a tree Wednesday morning at a Mahwah townhouse complex. The 23-year-old Pennsylania subcontractor for Orange and Rockland utilities was working behind Indian Hollow off Hilltop Road when he fell backward around 8:30 a.m., Police Chief James N. Allendale Woman Unscathed After Car Goes Through Building Into Desk
An Allendale claims manager said her desk protected her after a car drove through her office building and into her workspace Thursday morning. Nancy Longo, 55 works at Thomas Freeman & Giglio Insurance Agency. She was typing at her computer when the car came through the building, sending her across the room on her chair. WOOD-RIDGE, N.J. -- A worker was hospitalized early Tuesday evening after falling 18 feet at a Wood-Ridge warehouse where authorities reported a high carbon monoxide reading.
