Wild Chase: Thief Fleeing Paterson PD Crashes Sedan Stolen With Kid, 5, Inside
A 17-year-old carjacker crashed while fleeing Paterson police in a sedan that he'd just stolen with a 5-year-old child inside, authorities said.
The owner had left the 2010 Nissan Altima running, with the youngster inside, in front of the Goody II Chinese and Spanish restaurant on Union Avenue around 9 p.m. Monday, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.
All available uniformed officers and detectives flooded the area in response to the call, Speziale said.

Passaic Sheriff's Chase Ends In Crash, Arrest For Gun, Drugs, More
PATERSON, N.J. -- A pre-dawn Paterson chase ended in a crash and the arrest of a drug dealer who was carrying a loaded handgun, heroin and Xanax, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said.
PCSD Officer Patrick Holt tried pulling the car over Presidential Boulevard around 4 a.m. Thursday, but the driver, Clarence Chambers, hit the gas instead, Berdnik said.
The chase continued onto Ryle Avenue before Chambers made a right onto Matlock Street and crash the vehicle into a parked car, the sheriff said.
