Child, 4, Drowns At Bergen County Home
A 4-year-old child drowned at a home in Woodcliff Lake on Friday, authorities confirmed. A 911 call brought officers to the home on Heidi Lane, a small cul-de-sac off Werimus Road next to the northbound Garden State Parkway shortly after 5 p.m. July 21, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Responders used CPR and a defibrillator, then police closed intersections so an ambulance could rush the youngster to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, where the prosecutor said the pronouncement was made. Bergen Homeowner Finds Burglar Downstairs
A startled Woodcliff Lake homeowner was unharmed after finding a burglar downstairs, authorities said. Borough police rushed to the residence off Werimus Road -- near the entrance to the southbound Garden State Parkway -- after the homeowner called them shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday, Lt. Chad Malloy said. The intruder apparently was wearing a mask and carrying a flashlight when he was discovered, the lieutenant said. : Woodcliff Lake Agrees To Allow Orthodox Worship Center And Pay $1.5 Million
An Orthodox Jewish congregation will be allowed to build a new worship center in Woodcliff Lake under an agreement reached Tuesday, ending a years-long battle that the borough fought with both the religious group and the federal government. Under a pair of the agreements announced Tuesday, the feds and Valley Chabad are both dropping lawsuits against the borough for denying zoning approvals for the property at Werimus Road and Woodcliff Avenue.
