Little Ferry Garage Fire Doused
A detached garage fire in Little Ferry severely damaged two vehicles and was doused before it could do serious damage to the home, responders said. The smoky, two-alarm blaze broke out on Roosevelt Street near Redneck Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3. A New Jersey man was killed in a violent crash involving a tractor trailer and several cars on the PA Turnpike Friday, July 29, authorities said (scroll for photos). The crash occurred on the Northeast Extension in Carbon County 5:45 p.m. near Mahoning Valley Exit #74. Photos show the tractor's cab and trailer stretched across both sides of the median. A 17-year-old driver escaped injury when her Jeep knocked down a traffic light and damaged a junction box in Waldwick, authorities said. The borough driver's vehicle came to rest in a wooded area off the corner of Sheridan Avenue and East Prospect Street at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, March 6, Police Chief Mark F. Messner said. Waldwick firefighters tended to a smoke condition in the engine, the DPW blocked off the area and the state Department of Transportation was notified, the chief said. Firefighters Extricate Victim, Summons Issued Following Ridgewood Crash
A female passenger was hospitalized after Ridgewood firefighters extricated her from a minivan that collided with a Honda Civic sedan Sunday night. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and had to be towed following the crash at Franklin Avenue and North Walnut Street shortly before 9 o'clock. The minivan passenger was taken to the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with a neck injury. A Honda sedan also sustained severe damage in the Ridgewood crash.Boyd A. Police: Thieves Steal SUV Left Unlocked In Glen Rock With Keys Inside, Crash On GS Parkway
A Glen Rock resident who left an SUV unlocked – with the keys inside – got it back in much different shape, authorities said. Whoever took off with the 2006 Honda Pilot also rummaged through another vehicle that was also left unlocked in the Doremus Avenue homeowner's driveway, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. The keys, three folding sports chairs and some old clothing was taken from that vehicle, he said. No one was injured when a huge tree fell Monday in an area where children play at Crestwood Lake in Allendale, damaging four cars. A Toyota Camry and a Honda Odyssey minivan had to be towed after the Labor Day afternoon incident. Besides the lake, the 71-acre municipal facility on West Crescent Avenue includes three beaches, several sports fields and The Red Barn pavilion -- available to Allendale residents or businesses by permit.

Pickup Dumps Concrete In Route 17 Crash In Upper Saddle River
A pickup truck dumped a load of broken concrete on Route 17 in Upper Saddle River Wednesday afternoon, jamming southbound traffic. The pickup was towing the load in a trailer that jack-knifed on the highway outside Ramsey Nissan just after 2 p.m. A few motorists who pulled to the shoulder may have sustained damage to their vehicles.
