A Wyckoff resident became the latest victim of a notorious scammer from Totowa who this time pocketed $12,000 for an Audi A5 that was never delivered, authorities said. Police in Wayne had arrested vehicle broker Anthony Antoniello, 38, early last month for keeping $27,900 toward a car he didn’t deliver, then bouncing a refund check. A taxicab passenger who was under the influence of PCP and not wearing a seatbelt turned out to be an ex-con fugitive from Pennsylvania, Haledon police said. Detective Jeffrey Welsh stopped the cab after the driver failed to signal a turn off West Broadway, Deputy Police Chief George Guzman, Jr. said. A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his 19-year-old passenger injured in a crash on Route 46 in Totowa. The 2008 Yamaha R6 sports bike rammed the rear passenger side of a 2014 Acura MDX near the Union Boulevard exit off the eastbound highway around 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, authorities said. Scammer Jailed After Collecting $27,000 For Car He Never Delivered: Wayne PD
A notorious scammer pocketed $27,900 for a car he didn’t deliver, then bounced a refund check after a Wayne detective got involved, authorities said. Anthony Antoniello, 38, of Totowa essentially gave Detective Michael Polifrone no choice but to charge him after offering a series of empty excuses, Detective Capt. Dan Daly said. There are more QuickCheks in the Garden State. QuickChek, a convenience store known for its subs, recently opened a location in Totowa at 809 Riverview Drive at Route 46 West.
