Four-Alarm Fire Crashes Wedding At Popular Bergen County Venue, No Injuries Reported A wedding was underway when a boiler fire broke out at a popular Bergen County event venue early Thursday night, authorities said. The four-alarm fire extended to the second floor of The Rockleigh on Paris Avenue after igniting in the boiler room shortly before 6 p.m., Northvale Police Chief Howard Ostrow said. Firefighters had it under control in under 40 minutes, the chief said. Rockleigh and Northvale firefighters were able to control the raging blaze with help from their colleagues from Norwood, Closter, Harrington Park, Old Tappan, Demarest and Emerson, along with New York smoke eater…

Brush Fire Burns Through Orangeburg For Hours More than seven fire departments spent several hours battling a brush fire in Orangeburg after police received a report of "an odor of smoke" in the area, according to the Orangetown Police. The call came in around 4:51 p.m. Wednesday reporting the smell near Tweed Boulevard on Clausland Mountain where responding officers found flames in the area of southwest Nike Lane, said Orangetown Sgt. Joseph Sullivan. The Orangeburg Fire Department responded and worked until 8:15 p.m. to contain the fire, Sullivan said.  Firefighters continued to monitor the area throughout the night and of…

A 49-year-old man is in critical condition after being crushed in a construction accident in Tappan. The man, identified as Arian Hila of Dumont was working at a construction site at 120 Western Highway when he crushed around 1:45 p.m. Friday when a garbage chute collapsed and landed on top of him near a dumpster, said Orangetown Police Capt. Donald Butterworth. He was rushed to Nyack Hospital for treatment where he is listed in critical condition, Butterworth said. The man works for Atria Consulting who was performing work on the site.
