Flooded Oakland Neighborhood Evacuated (Storm Damage Update) North Jersey residents are feeling the impact of this week's storm with thousands still without power and schools closed or delayed. In Bergen County, houses were hit on East Midland Avenue in Paramus and on Sunset Avenue in Englewood. A Mahwah police officer also escaped serious injury when a falling tree struck his cruiser. Route 17 was closed in both directions at various times in multiple spots, including in Hasbrouck Heights around 9:30 p.m., in East Rutherford just before midnight and in Rochelle Park about an hour later. State Of Emergency Declared As Flooding Worsens In NJ Town A New Jersey town where flooding has apparently worsened since the weekend storm has declared a State of Emergency. Wayne Township residents in areas that are prone to flooding were urged to self-evacuate on Monday, Dec. 18. As of Tuesday, Dec. 19, the area from the Passaic River at Little Falls "entered major flood stage" and was only expected to rise until cresting this evening, township officials said. Flooding Closes Major Roadways Across NJ, Rescues Under Way (Update) Heavy rain on Friday, Sept. 29 closed major roadways across New Jersey. Gov. Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency in the late afternoon, as rain continued falling, leaving drivers trapped in flood waters across the state. Dunderhook Road at Paramus Road in Paramus remained closed due to flooding, leading the borough's Office of Emergency Management to urge an evacuation of the area late Friday afternoon.
