Gunman, 22, Arrested In Shooting Of Kearny Man In Paterson, Police Say
Police have arrested the 22-year-old gunman who they say is responsible for a June shooting in Paterson.
Rafael A. Cabrera Perea, of Paterson, is believed to have shot the 26-year-old man near Prospect and Ellison streets around 2:40 a.m. on June 17, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi said.
While on scene, officers were notified that the victim, a Kearny resident, had been taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment. An investigation identified Cabrera Perea as the gunman, Valdes said.

Ridgefield Man Shot In Hawthorne, Local Resident Charged
A 32-year-old Ridgefield man was shot in Hawthorne over the weekend, said authorities who made an arrest.
The victim was treated at the scene and didn’t require further medical treatment following the 10:37 p.m. shooting on Wagner Place near Midland Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 16, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Hawthorne Police Chief James W. Knepper said.
Angel Alberto, 34, of Hawthorne, surrendered to Hawthorne police on Sunday, they said.

A shootout in Passaic led to the arrests of a Clifton teenager who authorities said fired the first shot and five rivals, three of whom they said shot back.

UPDATE: An ex-con whom a pregnant Paterson woman identified as her killer shortly before she died was convicted of murder following a jury trial.
