Ground Stop Issued For Newark Airport Following Earthquake
Departures at Newark International Airport are grounded following a 4.8 earthquake that hit New Jersey on Friday, April 5. The order was issued by the Federal Aviation Administration at 11:05 a.m. and runs until 12:30 p.m. for departing flights. AirTran service at the airport is also temporarily suspended, though shuttle buses are available at terminals and stations. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said the ground stop, which was also issued for John F. Kennedy International Airport, was in case of aftershocks. Arrivals are delayed 45 minutes according to the FAA.

A Massachusetts money manager who police arrested last month at Newark International Airport trying to escape prosecution admitted to stealing $3.5 million from his clients, including the entire life savings of an elderly couple, federal authorities said. A Hudson County man wanted on child sex abuse charges was nabbed by members of the U.S Marshals Service in Colombia on Sunday, authorities said. Man Dies In Single-Car Crash On Route 1&9 Near Newark Airport
A man died in a crash on Route 1&9 Wednesday evening near Newark International Airport. The single-car crash occurred just before 6 p.m. under the McClellan Street underpass, and the adult male driver was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said.
