Pavan, of Tenafly, was riding his mountain bike at Tallman State Park when he lost control of his bike, causing him to hit the ground striking his head around 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel said. Pavan was wearing biking shoes and was clipped to the bike; he was also wearing a helmet, Nevel said. Child Struck, Killed By School Bus In Rockland County A child has died after being struck by a school bus in the Hudson Valley. The incident took place in Rockland County around 5:50 p.m., Monday, Jan. 29 in front of 100 Clinton Ave., in the Village of New Square. According to Lt. Blaine Howell of the Ramapo Police, the 8-year-old child was treated by paramedics on the scene but was pronounced dead. The driver of the bus remained on the scene and is cooperating with the police, Howell said. While it's nothing like it was in early June, the smoke on Thursday, June 29 was enough to prompt a "code orange" in most of the state. In other words, unhealthy air quality out there. 28 Horses Killed In Orange County, N.Y. Barn Fire Twenty-eight horses are dead after a large fire broke out at a Hudson Valley farm on Saturday morning. The barn is located behind the Mount Hope Training Center just north of I-84 in Orange County. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the two trainers affected by the fire. A barn worker saw the barn was on fire around 3 a.m., when he got up to feed the horses, according to the New York Post. He said the horses were "crying like babies." Not one could be saved. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
