: Ridgefield Police Officer Rescues Mom, Kids From House Fire
A Ridgefield police officer kicked in a door and rescued a mother and children from a raging house fire Saturday morning. Sgt. Edward Schaefer was walking out of the headquarters when he saw smoke coming from a block away. Schaefer, a 20-year veteran and firefighter, ran to the Hillside Street home. Smoke poured from the house as he got the mother and kids out. : Suicidal Woman, 19, Rescued After Jumping From Palisades In Cliffside Park
Cliffside Park firefighters rescued a distraught 19-year-old woman who plunged nearly 30 feet after jumping from the top of the Palisades in a suicide try Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. The woman was taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, responders said. She sustained a head and ankle injury and had various cuts and bruises from the fall, Police Capt. Vincent Capano said. : Pink Heals Rallies First Responders For Special Waldwick, Cliffside Park Boys
Two special young boys will be treated to a parade of first responders this Sunday in Waldwick, thanks to Pink Heals of Bergen County. Both Cole McKeon of Waldwick and Austin “AJ” Katchen of Cliffside Park were diagnosed months apart last year with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that attacks certain types of nerve tissue. Before his first birthday, AJ had successful tumor resection surgery, the first of several operations. He’s also undergone chemotherapy that kept him hospitalized several months. : Aid Arranged For Fort Lee Fire Victims, Police Say Blaze Didn't Seem Suspicious
UPDATE: A fire that began in a crawl space and eventually destroyed a Fort Lee apartment building Thursday night didn’t claim any lives, produced three minor injuries and didn’t appear suspicious, authorities announced.
