Franklin Lakes Extreme Home Was Almost Good Enough For Michael Jackson

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — A Franklin Lakes home that features an indoor pool and basketball courts was almost good enough for Michael Jackson.

The late pop star and a prince of Bangladesh both considered buying the 18,500-square-foot home. Jackson reportedly wanted to add a petting zoo to the home when he considered it in 2004, realtors said.

It was last sold in 2009 for $2.8 million, but listed for sale again in 2016 for $4.4 million. Since then, the price has fluctuated to where it is now.

The original builder — a Russian physicist and businessman involved in the United Nations — created this French chateau to showcase his wife's artwork through the 100-foot picture gallery and second floor mezzanine.

Its indoor pool salon can be opened up to the outdoors through double-arched French doors to a vast Tennessee Crab stone patio and two-acre property with gazebo.
