Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox said 27-year-old Alejandro J. Montalvo of Ridgewood apparently got into the house through an unlocked door and first entered an upstairs bedroom, where he awoke a 15-year-old boy before heading to the woman’s room just after 1 o’clock this morning.

He dashed out after the woman screamed, but police from Wyckoff and surrounding towns arrived quickly, creating a force of more than two dozen officers, Fox said.

Wyckoff Officers Peter Goodman, Ryan Tenney and Kevin Pinches were searching the Lehigh Street neighborhood when they found a broken window on the porch door of a house three doors down.

Inside the enclosed porch, they found Montalvo — drunk and asleep, Fox said.

Montalvo, of East Ridgewood Avenue, had been out drinking with friends “who for no known reason dropped him off in Wyckoff,” the chief said. He told police he simply wanted to find a place to lie down.

Montalvo is being held on $40,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
