Wyckoff crash gives new meaning to carpooling

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: An 84-year-old Cliffside Park man and his 79-year-old female companion were rescued by family members after he drove his car into his daughter’s pool yesterday.

The driver “mistakenly stepped on the gas instead of the brake” after reaching the end of the Joshua Lane driveway, sending the 2006 Audi A-6 crashing through a fence and into the drink around 1:20 p.m., Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox said.

“Fortunately there were no injuries to anyone,” Fox said this morning.

A tow truck with a crane removed the Audi.
