Two struck utility poles, two DWI arrests, three days apart in Wyckoff

ONLY ON CVP: At the same time of morning three days apart — 12:09 a.m. — Wyckoff police received calls of light poles struck in town and arrested the drivers for DWI, among other offenses.

Sgt. Brian Zivkovich and Officer Michael Teegan responded to Sicomac Avenue near the Franklin Lakes border on Nov. 8 a report that a car had struck a utility pole. Lucas J. Franco, 23, was charged with DWI, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and possession of narcotics paraphernalia after failing a breath test, Benjamin C. Fox.

He was released to his mother pending an appearance in Municipal Court, the chief said.

Three days later, several residents contacted Wyckoff police after hearing a vehicle strike a light pole on Red Rock Road and seeing it leave the scene, Fox said.

Officer Kyle Ferreira found the car parked in a driveway on nearby Bridle Path. He arrested 36-year-old Christian B. McAuley on charges of DWI, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

He was released to his father pending an appearance in Municipal Court, the chief said.
