The officers questioned Kenny Daugett and his pursuers — aged 21 and 23 — before taking him into custody, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

They also found the knife believed used on the victim, who needed 14 stitches to close a wound on his arm, he said. He also had wounds on his neck, Pentangelo said.

Officers also rushed to the Holland Gardens apartments on 16th Street to collect evidence and quell any further disturbance, he said.

“Blood was found on the sidewalk near the playground and inside the building,” Pentangelo said. “Additional witnesses were interviewed.”

Daugett, of Grove Street, had a cut on his right hand that required treatment at Jersey City Medical Center, Pentangelo said.

He was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon and two counts of unlawful weapons possession.

The 19-year-old stabbing victim was treated at Christ Hospital.
