The first call, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, came from a Newtown Road resident who said she came home after being out for the day to find her front door forced open, Police Chief Benjamin C. Fox said Friday.
Friday morning, a housekeeper arriving at a Hillside Avenue home that had been unoccupied for several days found the rear door of the house forced open, the chief said.
"It appears that these burglaries may have been committed by the same person(s) and was done during the daylight hours [Thursday]," Fox said.
He asked that citizens contact police whenever they see a suspicious person or vehicle in their neighborhood.
