An employee at St. Elizabeth Church of Hungary on Wyckoff Avenue reported the theft of the poor box from the lobby, Police Chief Benjamin Fox said.

The wooden box used to collect donations for those less fortunate ordinarily contains several hundred dollars when emptied, the chief said.

As only Monday, extensive vandalism was discovered at the Eisenhower School on Calvin Court.

“Swipe card access control readers were pried from six doors, 93 window screens were torn, a door handle was destroyed and supports for a memorial tree were cut,” Fox said.

Damage estimates were between $7,000 and $10,000.
