No retreat, no surrender for Bergen girl who wants to bring Springsteen to school

CLIFFVIEW PILOT HAS IT FIRST: Even though 6th-grader Macie Sparozic of Wyckoff is in a new school, she’s still determined to make her former teacher’s dream to meet Bruce Springsteen come true.

So she’s produced a follow-up video to her original request that The Boss come to Gail Cordello’s 5th grade class.

Macie drew widespread attention last school year by posting a YouTube video in which she tells Springsteen about Cordello, a teacher at the Sicomac School who uses his songs as tools to teach youngsters to dream.

Mrs. Cordello also has Springsteen posters throughout classroom 5C and has shown her charges the rocker’s videos as inspiration.

As the school year wound down in June, E Street saxophonist Clarence “Big Man” Clemons suffered a stroke that eventually killed him.

Springsteen’s manager contacted Macie’s mom and said the Hall of Fame rock and roller wouldn’t be able to come to Sicomac because, as Macie said, “Bruce would want to be with his BFF.”

Macie — who, by her count, has seen Springsteen 10 times — held onto her dream, though.

She emailed get-well wishes to Clemons while he was hospitalized. Then, after making an initial follow-up video that she wasn’t satisfied with, she released her follow-up this week.

Have a look:

In it, she offers condolences to Springsteen for losing his best friend, adding: “I’m sure Clarence is playing beautiful music in heaven.”

Macie also notes that Mrs. Cordello teaches her students that “no dream expires and no dream is too big.”

So she asks, once again, if he’ll come to discuss “your writing and what inspires you.”

“Come, pleeeeease, to make my favorite teacher’s dream come true,” Macie says. “Thank you, Bruce Springsteen….”
