Salvatore Randazzo was released to a friend under John’s Law after police issued him summonses for DWI, refusing to take a breath test and careless driving, Detective Capt. Donald Scorzetti said.

An officer who responded to the incident on Union Street near Prosepct Street detected alcohol on Randazzo’s breath, then took him into custody after he failed a field sobriety test, Scorzetti said.

Randazzo refused medical attention after complaining of a chest injury, the captain said.

All three vehicles were towed.
