Franklin Lakes Police Chief Nabs Accused Shoplifter

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- Franklin Lakes Police Chief Carmine Pezzuti was off duty when he nabbed a North Haledon man who he said shoplifted a case of Red Bull from the Stop & Shop on Franklin Avenue.

Roy Schmtt, 32, was ordered held on $5,000 bail after Pezzuto grabbed him in the supermarket parking lot with the $150 case of energy drink on Sunday, Lt. John Bakelaar said.

He was charged with shoplifting and resisting arrest.
