Authorities said David Noel, 24, tried to use the card for a $3,000 purchase at the Super Stop and Shop on Franklin Avenue, was denied and ran out.

He was trying to hop into a car being driven through the lot by 22-year-old Wollens Francois when police pulled up just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Lt. John Bakelaar said.

They stopped the vehicle on Franklin Avenue and chased down Noel on foot near Circle Avenue, he said.

Both were being held on $20,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail.

Noel was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, false representation and resisting arrest.

Francois was charged with similar fraud counts and careless driving.
