DWI Ridgewood Counselor Left Accident Scene, Franklin Lakes Police Charge

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ -- A mental health counselor from Ridgewood was intoxicated when she drove off after her car hit a guard rail in an overnight crash, Franklin Lakes police said.

Elizabeth Voegtlin, 27, was released pending a hearing after the 2:29 a.m. crash Saturday on Pulis Avenue.

Veogtlin took off after her vehicle struck a guard rail at the intersection of Campgaw Road, travelling north into Mahwah, Detective Lt. John Bakelaar said.

Mahwah police found the vehicle on Pond Lane, he said.

Veogtlin was charged with DWI, refusing to take a breath test, leaving the scene of a crash and refusing to report an accident.
