A Tomahawk Lane resident lost the car itself -- a 2014 Audi -- that police said was parked, unlocked, in his driveway overnight Tuesday.

Several other unlocked vehicles were entered around the same time -- on Shawnee Drive, Valley Road, Arapaho Trail, Franklin Lake Road, High Mountain Road and Indian Trail Drive, Capt. John Bakelaar said Wednesday.

Whoever was responsible apparently was trying to steal the vehicles and didn't take anything from inside, the captain said.

"It appears that the car entries are related to the motor vehicle theft," Bakelaar said.
