Complaint against 14-year-old girl who threatened to ‘attack’ Ramapo High School

Detectives in Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes brought juvenile complaints today against a 14-year old Wyckoff girl who they said posted on Facebook that she was “looking for individuals to contact her in order to make a terrorist attack against Ramapo High School,” which is in Franklin Lakes.

Wyckoff Detective Sgt. Michael Musto and Franklin Lakes Detective Jeffrey Jost took the girl into custody and served her with a single complaint of making terroristic threats.

Because of her age, she was not formally arrested, and the case will be held in the Family Part of Superior Court during what ordinarily are sessions not open to the public.

“Our departments are working closely with school officials at the high school so that school staff, students and parents are assured of the safety of the school,” Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox said.

“There are no known other individuals involved in the incident, and the threat appears to have been limited to the social network site posting,” he added.

(Wyckoff students go to both Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, as well as to Indian Hills High School in Oakland.)

“Although the threat appears to have been directed solely against Ramapo High School,” Fox said, he, Oakland Police Chief Edward Kasper and Wyckoff school officials “are prepared to answer questions from concerned parents.”
