Theodore “Ted” Wagner, 60, Of Oakland

OAKLAND, N.J. – Theodore “Ted” Wagner, a resident of Oakland, died Tuesday, May 17. He was 60.

A star athlete of Passaic High School Class of 1973, he earned the Art Harris Memorial Trophy, awarded for all-around athletic excellence and remained a dedicated athlete throughout his life. A Montclair State University graduate, he also earned a master’s dDegree from CUNY-Hunter. He was employed in the field of public health for 33 years, many of those years with the Mid-Bergen Regional Health Commission.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Goessmann) Wagner; two sisters, Christine Wagner and Constance W. Van Epps and husband James; and niece and nephew, Alexandra and Anderson Van Epps.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 25 Purdue Ave., Oakland.
