Rosemarie D'Alessandro, 85, Of Wyckoff

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Rosemarie D'Alessandro, a resident of Wyckoff, died Tuesday, Feb. 2. She was 85.

She graduated St. Brendan High School and earned a full scholarship to Fordham University, where she was an enthusiastic member of the glee club and dedicated literary editor of the school journal.

Upon graduation, she accepted a job with NBC working for newscaster John Cameron Swayze. She then spent several years at Hearst Magazines in the public relations department. She became a published writer, having several of her articles appear in The American Mercury magazine. 

She is survived by her children Stephen D’Alessandro, Paul D’Alessandro, Greg D’Alessandro and his wife Jueine, Karen Engeman and her husband John, Michael D’Alessandro and his wife Margaret; and grandchildren Andrew D’Alessandro (Sarah), Caitlin D’Alessandro, Christian D’Alessandro, Kayla Engeman, Nicole Engeman, Troy D’Alessandro, Michael D’Alessandro, Kelly D’Alessandro, Matthew Engeman, Kate D’Alessandro, Kyra Arlotta and Erin D’Alessandro.

She was predeceased by her husband Angelo D’Alessandro; and her grandson Jamie D’Alessandro.

The family will receive family and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church.
