POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. -- Mary S. (Ray) Watts -- a Pompton Plains resident, formerly of Franklin Lakes -- died on April 19. She was 84.
A member of the High Mountain Presbyterian Church in Franklin Lakes, Watts was one of the founding charter members of the Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes and the first woman elder at the Church. "A former second grade teacher in Pompton Lakes, one of the happiest and most rewarding part of Mary's life was raising her children," information from the funeral home noted.
Watts is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward Watts of Pompton Plains; daughters Virginia Zackrone and her husband Eric of Suffern, New York, Susan Fitzgerald of Warwick, New York, and Pamela Stevens of Haskell; grandchildren Sean Fitzgerald, Corey Stevens and Kyle Stevens; and sisters Martha Mahoney of Florida and Sue Cooper-Street of Maryland.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 22, at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Rd., in Franklin Lakes. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the High Mountain Presbyterian Church, in Franklin Lakes. Cremation will be private.
