Mario J. Calamita, 91, Franklin Lakes Resident

PATERSON, N.J. -- Mario J. Calamita -- a Franklin Lakes resident, formerly of Midland Park and Wanaque -- died on Tuesday, April 12. He was 91.

Born in Paterson, Calamita served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the Honeywell Corporation in Teterboro, where he was an aircraft assembler. He was a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the Riverside Vets, both in Paterson.

He is survived by his son, Paul Calamita and his wife Marilyn; granddaughters Stephanie Marie and Lauren Elizabeth; and siblings Joseph and Frank Calamita, and Mildred Guarriello.

Calamita was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Calamita; granddaughter Paula Calamita; and brother Thomas Calamita.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, April 15, at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., in Wyckoff. A funeral mass will be celebrated on at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 787 Franklin Lakes Rd., in Franklin Lakes. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, in Paterson.
