She was born and raised in Paterson. She graduated from the Sherwood Secretarial School in Paterson and was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church in Wyckoff.
Surviving are her children, Marsha Shotmeyer, Donna and her husband Robert Anson and Keith Vandervelt and his wife Louise; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Vandervelt; and daughter and son-in-law Georgia and Bruce Peters
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave.,, Wyckoff. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, followed by interment in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson.
