Dr. Michael James Pirozzi, 89, Of Franklin Lakes

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- Dr. Michael James Pirozzi, of Franklin Lakes. died Wednesday, Sept. 23. He was 89.

Pirozzi lived in Clifton before moving to Franklin Lakes in 1961. After contracting polio as a young child, he developed a strong interest in medicine. He attended St. Peters College in Jersey City, and went on to receive his medical degree from Marquette Medical School in Wisconsin, and eventually became chief of urology at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson.

He was a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Franklin Lakes.

Pirozzi is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Ann (O’Donnell); children, Dr. Patrick Pirozzi (Rosemarie),, Maria Pirozzi, Michael Pirozzi (Jenny), Mark Pirozzi (Diane Morrell), Phillip Pirozzi (Diane), Margaret Matro (Nicholas), Paula Pirozzi, Mathew Pirozzi (Carole)and Peter Pirozzi (Jolie); grandchildren, Dr. Kelly and Dr. Jeff McAlister, “Little” Michael, Angela, Patrick Esq., Patricia, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Danielle, Carly, Brianna, Deirdre and Brooke.

Pirozzi was pre-deceased by his sisters, Bette Pirozzi and Laura Piazza.

While Pirozzi enjoyed his time on the golf course and a good card game, he never felt more at home than at his kitchen table surrounded by his great loves watching the New York Giants.
