OAKLAND, N.J. -- Alfred Hertel of Oakland died Tuesday at age 86.
He was married to the late Lillian Hertel (nee MastenBrook) and the father of three: Jeffrey Hertel and wife Dena of Franklin Lakes, James Hertel of Oakland, and Karen Hertel-Koenig and husband Martin of Bloomingdale.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kristin, Katelyn and Eric Hertel and Kevin Koenig.
Visitors may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Savior Lutheran Church, 22-15 Broadway, Fair Lawn. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories, Paramus.
Donations may be made to the John Robert Walker Memorial Oakland First Aid Squad, the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff or the Alzheimer's Association.
