Wyckoff Church Seeks Donations, Prayers Following Cemetery Vandalism

WYCKOFF, N.J. – The Wyckoff Reformed Church is seeking donations to repair the almost 50 headstones that were vandalized last weekend.

Peter Cantilina, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, is hopeful the community will come together to identify those responsible as well as to assist with restoration of markers dating back to the Civil War, the church said.

Almost $600 had been raised as of Saturday morning on a GoFundMe campaign for the church.

“We also are asking for prayers for those who committed this very sad and senseless destruction,” Cemetery Association Vice President Richard Lynch said in a Facebook post.

Police are investigating the incident and are seeking information from the public. New Jersey State Detective Agency investigators have donated a toll free anonymous tip line, 877-688-7162 to receive information.
