The full-sized school bus had no passengers aboard when it rear-ended an Acura TSX that had slowed down for traffic on the highway's northbound side near Cedar Hill Avenue in Wyckoff, Detective Lt. Joseph Soto said.
The 63-year-old bus driver from Lodi wasn't injured, so police allowed her to drive the bus from the scene with minor damage, Soto said.
The Acura driver, 28, of Fair Lawn, complained of back pain but refused medical attention, the lieutenant said.
Her passenger, a 56-year-old woman, also from Fair Lawn, complained of shoulder pain and was transported to Chilton Hospital by the Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps, he said.
The Acura was towed on a flatbed with heavy rear-end damage, Soto said.
Firefighters helped remove debris from the northbound highway, which was closed for about a half hour.
No summonses were issued, Soto said, adding that an investigation was continuing.
