Oakland Baby Battles Cancer, Family Spreads Awareness

OAKLAND, N.J. -- Jessica and Jared Springler are reaching out for support from the community through their online fundraising page, Love for Liam.

Liam, their 9-month-old son, was diagnosed with eye cancer several months ago, and while he fights for his life, his parents struggle to cover the medical bills.

The proceeds raised by Love for Liam will help the family pay their bills and raise awareness to an organization called Family Reach, which is dedicated to helping families like the Springlers.

Family Reach will hold a Heroes 5K Family Festival from 9 to 11 a.m., on Sunday, Sept. 27, in Darlington Park, 600 Darlington Ave., in Mahwah. Tickets are between $30 and $35.
