Fungi Expert Leads Mushroom Walk In Wyckoff

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- A guided mushroom walk and talk takes place at the McFaul Environmental Center in Wyckoff on Tuesday, May 24. John Michelotti, the Mushroom Guy, will lead the walk.

The walk takes place from 3-5 p.m. and everyone must pre-register. Cost is $15.

Refreshments and a lecture follow at 7 p.m. at the Bergen County Administration building, 1st floor, Hackensack. 

Michelotti cultivates mushrooms indoors and out on his family farm in Indian, NY. He is the owner of Catskill Fungi, whose mission is to empower people through Fungi via outdoor guided mushroom classes, cultivation courses, educational talks, mushroom art and mushroom health extractions.

He is the President of the Mid-Hudson Mycological Association, Connecticut Westchester Mycological, Pioneer Valley Mycological Association, and North American Mycological Association as well as Amazon Mycorenweal Project researching the utilization of Fungi to remediate oil spills in the Amazon Rainforest.

He has visited over a dozen mushroom farms in the US, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Ecuador.
