Ridgewood: In what has become a longstanding tradition, Reconstructionist Congregation Beth Israel offers an annual Chanukah celebration free and open to the public Families are encouraged to bring their menorah and candles on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. where pizza, latkes and other goodies will be served. Rutherford: Warm up with hot soup, latkes and jelly donuts -- and support the police forces of South Bergen when the Congregation Beth El of Rutherford hosts its second annual grand menorah lighting. The event, on Sunday, Dec. 13, falls on the eighth night of Chanukah, and starts at 4:30 p.m. at 185 Montross Ave. The free event will feature activities for all ages and is open to the public.
Teaneck: Help create a Shabbos care package for Jewish soldiers in the American armed forces overseas on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Teaneck Chabad House (513 Kenwood Pl.). Some of these items will be used to build an eight-foot menorah. A magic and comedy show will take place following the menorah lighting. Tenafly: Get into the holiday spirit at the 22nd annual Chanukah Concert, performed by the SHIRAH Community Chorus on the Palisades.
