Mayor Frank Bivona and Dina Robinson, Mayors Wellness Campaign coordinator, created Baskets 4 Franklin Lakes to get children and adults outside, to promote healthy activities and well-being in our community.
"The participation at past tournaments has been incredible with over 80 teams competing, local businesses selling food and sports items as well as countless spectators," the Borough noted. It has raised nearly $15,000 each year, which was donated to local charities.
This year, the event is raising money for Denise Casalino, of Upper Saddle River. She was two school-age children, and in February 2015, her husband died of cardiac arrest. Casalino is also dealing with serious health challenges. She has ovarian cancer which had gone into remission, after aggressive treatment, but has now returned.
