The excited group of 6- to 12-year-olds had a delicious time making buttercream icing, drawing with edible markers on fondant, piping frosting, and more.

Last, they decorated pre-baked cupcakes using all the techniques and boxed them to take home.

Kara Schnaidt of Franklin Lakes, owner of Kara Kakes, led the camp along with her assistant and co-teacher, Sarah Ebel of New Milford.

Sandra Schnaidt of Franklin Lakes, Kara’s mother, helped.

At the end of the two-day camp, the children excitedly showed their parents what they had made.

“My daughter said this was the best day of her life,” one mother said.

Schnaidt will hold another Kara Kakes Kamp, probably for one day, in time for Halloween.
