Passing Of An NJ Republican Icon: State Senator Gerald Cardinale Dies At 86 State Sen. Gerald Carindale, a Bergen County conservative who served longer than any other Republican New Jersey lawmaker in history, died Saturday. A dentist by trade, Cardinale had battled health issues over the past year while seeking an unprecedented 13th term to the Legislature.
