Update: Linden Student Brought Knife To School, Accidentally Nicked Other Child A spokesman for the Linden school district issued a statement late Tuesday explaining what happened in a stabbing at Joseph E. Soehl Middle School.  A 13-year-old student brought a knife to school and "nicked the palm" of a fellow student while the two were playing and running in the hallway around 8:30 a.m., the spokesman wrote. The student was treated at the scene.  A teacher was initially told that the small wound was caused by a pencil but was eventually told the student had a knife.
