Driver Seized After Sunday Morning Crash Splits Utility Pole In Ridgewood
A driver was taken after custody following a Sunday morning crash that snapped a utility pole in Ridgewood, causing scattered power and communications outages in the area. The uninjured driver was brought to Glen Rock police headquarters for a blood-alcohol test and then to village headquarters after the Acura RLX slammed into the pole on North Van Dien Avenue shortly before 8:30 a.m. March 3. Bollards planted around a roadside electrical box mostly did their job during an early-morning crash Wednesday in Ridgewood. No injuries were reported after a Jeep Wrangler and Mercedes sedan collided outside the Bergen County Duck Pond in front of Valley Health Systems on East Ridgewood Avenue near Paramus Road shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sept. 13. An 86-year-old driver from New York State refused medical attention after his SUV knocked over a fire hydrant and slammed into a utility pole in Ridgewood. Police issued a summons following the crash in the 100 block of Oak Street on Friday, March 10. The Emergency Services unit assisted with traffic control. Vehicle In Route 17 Crash Bursts Into Flames
A driver refused medical attention for a hand injury following a fiery crash that jammed a busy stretch of Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights. A Dodge Neon caught fire after colliding with a Toyota Camry at the jughandle in front of the White Castle shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 6. A tragedy was averted when a drunk driver from Manhattan exited the Holland Tunnel in Jersey City, made a U-turn and headed back east in the westbound lane, authorities said. Police: Ambulance Worker Seriously Injured After Jumping Out Of Rig On Route 208
UPDATE: A 21-year-old private ambulance worker was seriously injured when he got out of the rig while it was moving during an argument on Route 208, authorities said. The incident "had been arguing with the driver" when he opened the front passenger door and exited the moving vehicle shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday on the southbound side of the highway between Ewing and Russell avenues in Wyckoff, Police Lt. Four vehicles all had to be towed after a chain-reaction crash Thursday off Route 17 in Ramsey. Third Fire In 38 Months Ravages Garden Center Greenhouse In Paramus (

The third fire in a little over three years at a Paramus garden center severely damaged a greenhouse Wednesday night. Flames erupted at Denny Wiggers Landscapes and Garden Center on Paramus Road across from Bergen Community College shortly before 7:30 p.m. Firefighters quickly knocked it down, with no injuries reported.
